A former bathing facility built in Art Nouveau style has become a unique venue. Managed by the event office Kulturschock, Ebertbad has been hosting first-rate political and social satire as well as variety performances since Sept. 1999.  The programme’s annual highlight is the “Geflügelwoche” which includes top-class music and satire performances focussing on the grand piano. The Ebertbad is also the “home” to the Missfits. Of course, the renowned Ebertbad may be rented for special occasions. From festival receptions to scientific symposiums, the Ebertbad always offers a stylish ambience.

Landmark of Oberhausen and symbol of successful structural change: the 117-metre high Gasometer between the Rhine-Herne canal and the CentrO shopping and leisure paradise. Built in 1928/29 for storing blast furnace gas, it was decommissioned in the early 1990s, and as part of the Emscher Park International Building Exhibition it was converted into the tallest and probably the most spectacular exhibition hall in Europe, complete with viewing platform.
Until the end of of this Capital of Culture Year 2010, the impressive exhibition "Out of this World - Wonders of the Solar System" can be seen here. It takes the visitors on a journey through the cosmos. Reproductions of the planetary system, fascinating images of alien worlds, valuable historical instruments and the 25m-diameter "largest moon on Earth" clearly illustrate the birth and development of the solar system. Nonetheless, the Gasometer itself is something to see. The inside of the gigantic steel structure offers a unique spatial experience. And the echo effect resonating 7 or 8 times throughout the structure astonishes visitors as well. Inside the Gasometer there is a glass panoramic lift that goes up to the dome. From the roof, you’ll see the entire western part of the Ruhr region lying at your feet.

One of the most modern and popular large event venues in Germany is the König Pilsener ARENA, which can accommodate almost 13,000 visitors. Since its opening in 1996, it has pushed the envelop as far as live entertainment goes. It quickly became the one of the first stops on the tour calendar of international megastars like Kylie Minogue and José Carreras. It also serves as a stage for shows like Riverdance and David Copperfield as well as sporting events like international boxing championship fights. It is not only the varied event programme, however, that attracts visitors in droves. With an ultramodern architecture and technical infrastructure, the ARENA has established itself as an important venue for events.

The Metronom Theater, the new location of the entertainment giant Stage Holding located in Oberhausen’s Neue Mitte right next to CentrO, staged its premiere with the popular musical “Beauty and the Beast” on 18 December 2005.

Now "WICKED - The Witches of Oz" can be seen in Oberhausen's Metronom Theater. On Broadway in New York, the musical has been breaking every record for years. An opulent and impressive spectacle that shatters every dimension, with magical ballads, spectacular stage effects and captivating costumes. Floating witches, flying creatures and mysterious magical contrivances take the audience's breath away. The core of this enchanting  witches' tale is formed by the extraordinary friendship between two witches and their love for the same man.

The Revierpark Vonderort that is situated along the city limits near Bottrop is ideal for sporting activities with its expansive green areas, sports fields, swimming facility and ice pavilion. It is also perfect for those who prefer to take a different approach to fitness, i.e. unwinding in the comfortable sauna landscape with a total 7 saunas and a steam bath or the recently remodelled salt-water bath.  In the bright swimming facility of the salt-water bath, visitors can also relax in two interconnected swimming pools with massage jets for back and neck and an average water temperature of 32°C. During the summer, the outdoor swimming pool with its 90-meter-long slide and wave pool is a major attraction, while the ice pavilion with its 30 x 60 meter ice skating rink and cosy bar is extremely popular from October to March.

Completely modernised in 2000, the Luise Albertz Halle with its wide variety of multifunctional facilities is an ideal venue for hosting a conference or event in the heart of Oberhausen. Due to its ultramodern conference and event equipment, outstanding catering service and service-oriented team, the Luise-Albertz-Halle meets the most stringent demands. The Festsaal or ballroom, which can seat 1,500 people and is located on the first floor, is the largest room in the whole centre. Arranged around the adjacent central hall there are eight rooms that are especially suited for all types of meetings, seminars and conferences.

The SCHiLDA Theater Halle is an event hall that can seat up to 700 persons. It also offers a restaurant on two floors, if needed. You may also select from diverse plans for seating and table arrangement. With large or small stage or no stage at all.
